Tithe Barn, Bolton Abbey

I feel like to do Tithe Barn any justice, I have to start by covering off the history. Built by Henry VIII over 500 years ago, it’s a Grade II star listed building, and it’s a bit gorgeous. Throw into the mix the stunning views of Bolton Abbey for a backdrop, and it has a presence and grace that most venues can only dream of.

Any photographer within a 200 mile radius likely has this absolute stunner well and truly on their bucket list, so when Chloe + Jack enquired, I have got just a bit excited. In the voice of Morgan Freeman: “Ashley was in fact, very excited.”

Chloe was really clear in what she wanted from her wedding day, and how she wanted photography to capture it. The pair reside the other side of the world in Melbourne, so the focus really was around making the most of the day with their friends and families, rather than dragging them away for hours on end for staged photographs. For reference, this is a remit I’m verrrrrry happy to work with.

From the minute I arrived at bridal prep, it became clear that Chloe is the most excitable bride I’ve ever met - she found it impossible not to be smiling on her wedding day. I’m told that ‘bridal nerves’ are traditionally meant to be a thing - well this is a tradition that Chloe well and truly chose to ignore.

The day itself was the stuff of dreams: smiles and laughter in abundance, a couple of tears, and a bouncing atmosphere that lit up the dance floor, all with the backdrop of Cripps doing what they do best - hosting an incredible day. Even a smattering of rain couldn’t do anything to dampen the day!

As always, it’s not my ramblings your here for, so take a peek at what happens when I mash a load of buttons on a camera.
